I think Sarah was the second person we met when we first moved to Hood River. Come to realize, she knows just about everyone in town and her contacts are easily identifiable by the flashes of ‘sparkle’ she adorns them with. I was showing her around Skatespace during the build phase when she mentioned the illuminated cabinet concept. I like to have one-to-two construction projects going as Skatespace is still stabilizing and waiting for the rainy season, so this project was a great fit.

The cabinets are made from birch and painted black with Benjamin Moore, from Page Paint. The arched faces hide the LED light strips with a bit of CVG fir trim to match the interior of the salon. It’s hard to tell in photos but the stencil paint is an iridescent tone-on-tone that shifts with the light as you walk past them.

Stop by Lucky Locks at 1015 12th street to check them out and get sparkled up. Thanks Sarah, for working with me on these, and for your patience with all the finishing touches happening between busy days at skateboard camp.

‘ I knew i hired the right guy! Love everything you do Mike, you get the assignment and make it even better than imagined. Thank you.‘
